Planning of a Mountaineering Holiday
More and more these days, adventure holidays are becoming a popular alternative to beach holidays and the like. As previously mentioned in our article on desert hiking – the great outdoors is a fantastic way to spend your spare time and mountaineering especially, is becoming a favourite holiday adventure of mine.
When thinking of planning a mountaineering holiday, be sure to follow a few of these rules:
Always come prepared - Carefully plan out what supplies will be needed on your trip, and always assume that you may need additional food, water and warm clothing should you run into any problems while on the trip. There is nothing worse than being under preapred as this is when accidents can happen. If you are an inexperienced climber, don’t be afraid to seek mountain training from a professional, who can teach you how to handle yourself in the wild outdoors.
Be sure to check you have up to date – Quality Mountain Equipment which will help you fend off the cold and any potentially dangerous situations. A good waterproof jackets, hiking boots and additional survival gear is neccesary. If you are just starting out on lighter walks, then a suitable walking coat, with some strong boots and a rucksack will be sufficient.
Always check ahead for adverse weather conditions – When out in the great outdoors, the quality of your trip and ultimately, the safety of your party can rest on good weather at your destination. Check with your local met office for updates on wind, rain and any other factors which can be problematic for climbers. While mountaineering is often left to the experts, even a beginner can find a good number of climbing spots to enjoy for a holiday. So ditch the sandals, grab yourself some mountaineering gear and take to the hills!

Not only could it be a fun and exciting vacation, but it could also be a learning experience for your kids.
Once you and your family have decided that a visit to a foreign country is just the way that you want to spend your next family vacation, you will have to start making travel arrangements. This most commonly includes choosing a final vacation destination, booking airline reservations, and overnight hotel accommodations. After these travel arrangements have been made, you will need to wait for the “big day,” to arrive. However, once that day comes, it is important to remember that you are traveling with children. For that reason, extra accommodations may need to be made.
Perhaps, is it best if you determine what these accommodations are before your flight is scheduled to take off. In fact, it is advised that you start preparing for your trip early, especially if you are traveling with children. This is because, when it comes to international flights, the preparation, even for children, is different than domestic flights. You will find that, in most cases, the guidelines and procedures change. For starters, the proof of identification that they will need drastically changes. Read the rest of this entry »
What to Expect When Hiking in the Desert

Recently having moved to Nevada, you must learned first hand how important water can be, and how sometimes you just don’t realize how much of it you need until it’s too late.

Coastal Backpacking in Washington State
The Olympic Coast of Washington is the most primitive natural coastline in the 48 contiguous United States. Part of an ecosystem stretching from Oregon to Alaska, with a rainforest that seldom sees temperatures below freezing in the winter or exceeding 80 degrees in the summer.

This trip, being surrounded by a temperate rain forest with the opportunity for views of wildlife, plants/trees, island sea stacks, and the ocean with it’s changing tide pools, provides a unique experience rarely found elsewhere.

To Travel Or to Not Travel?
Traveling is something that not everyone around you gets to experience. Traveling is thoroughly enjoyed by some and is completely despised by others. Either way, travel is essential to the modern way of life. People travel for work, travel for leisure, travel to visit friends and family and travel to get away from them. Travel is essential to today’s society with some of us embracing it and others doing everything they can to avoid it.
Due to today’s current economy there has been an upswing in “stay-cations” as the budgets are getting tighter and pennies are being pinched. However many companies in the travel sector are offering great deals on travel services, for both domestic and international travel. You can find great bargains on airfare, hotels and car rentals.
